Climate Change Opinion Piece

Eighty percent of our worlds Co2 emissions are caused by industrialized nations like China or the U.S.A. Gas discharges like these, cloud our atmosphere creating a barrier for infrared light rays from escaping. These trapped rays are radically increasing the temperature in on earth and is rapidly melting polar ice caps and glaciers such as the ones on Greenland. The fresh water of these glaciers is flowing in the ocean altering our oceans temperature and salinity levels. As you see, these climate changes are potentially majorly affecting our natural environment.

One of the most unpleasant affects of global warming is the rising of earth’s major oceans. Some of the world’s largest cities around the world will be flooded with ocean water. Hundreds of islands will also be flooded because they are near or at sea level. In the next hundred years, it is said that the ocean will rise 88 centimetres. Millions of people who live in these areas will be required to leave there household thus creating other problems. As global warming creeps into our daily lives, the temperature will slowly increase during the years. Various things mature a lot more rapidly in hot weather, including a variety of insects and diseases. Some of the insects, diseases and parasites could and will injure or kill humans. Some new insects could also dramatically affect forests and wildlife. Even if the new parasites don’t directly hurt people the can harm things that people eat and make a living through.

The facts in the previous paragraph are scenarios of what could happen to our plant because of global warming. The other side of this climate change crisis is it isn’t fully proven that it could happen immediately or ever. We could spend millions of dollars and a great deal of our planets natural resources to try and prevent a problem that may not even exist. I frankly don’t have a very strong opinion about this climate change dilemma. But my beliefs are that if we attempt to make a difference to stop global warming it will dramatically affect our economy. Except it may turn out to save all of our lives and our home planet. If it happens to be a fraud, our economy might hurt, but if something like this ever did happen, we will be ready for it.
